Boys & Girls Clubs in Central Wyoming and Big Horns to Join Forces

After more than six months of collaboration, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Wyoming (BGCCW) and the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Big Horns (BGCBH) plan to come together in a merger that would bring the two Big Horns Clubs under the operation of the Central Wyoming organization. The boards of both organizations voted to support the merger, effective July 1, 2016.

In fall of 2015, BGCCW began partnering with the Big Horns Clubs to provide professional development, increase community partnerships, strategic planning, and program collaboration following turnover of top leadership in the Big Horns organization.

To preserve the local integrity and interests of the Big Horns Clubs, three Johnson County residents will serve as representatives on BGCCW’s Board of Directors. In addition, BGCBH will be required to have an active advisory council in Johnson County to help lead strategic planning, spearhead and implement development efforts in funding the Big Horns budget and advocate for Clubs.

“This merger is a win for both organizations with the kids as the biggest benefactors. It could mean improved programming and expansion into additional neighborhoods in Buffalo and Kaycee,” explained Matt Cassel, BGCCW Board President. “It will allow us to serve more kids, more often, build Club services, and impact our resource development capability.”

“The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Big Horns is excited to cement our partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Wyoming through this merger! We have benefited from Central Wyoming’s strong leadership and structure which is allowing Buffalo and Kaycee to thrive,” said Sheri Olver, BGCBH Board President. “The goal of this partnership is to be able to serve more kids and to serve them better and we can already see this happening.”

The mission of both Clubs is “to inspire and enable all youth, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens.”

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Wyoming operates six sites and a Teen Center and has been in operation since 1969.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Big Horns operates one site in Buffalo and one in Kaycee and has been in operation since 2002.
