Filling up the kids’ backpacks is draining the wallets of families across the country. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Wyoming wants to help by providing FREE school supplies. According to the annual Huntington Backpack Index, the cost of equipping students for the upcoming school year has jumped as much as 20% from the previous year.
To help relieve the financial burden this may place on families in Central Wyoming, the Boys & Girls Club has teamed up with Casper’s Dollar Tree to provide FREE school supplies to families who need it. The Dollar Tree has been collecting everything from notebooks to crayons to pencils from its customers over the summer. The store has chosen the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Wyoming as the recipient of those items.
The FREE school supplies will be available at the Club’s Back to School Night on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014 from 4 – 6 p.m. at Casper’s Main Club, 1701 East K Street. Families will be able to meet with Club Directors from each Boys & Girls Club branch to learn about each site and the world-class after-school programming available for children ages 5-18. Programming is focused on three core areas of Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Character & Citizenship.
Everyone is welcome to attend and receive the school supplies, while they last. You do not have to be a member of the Club.
