On most weekday evenings, there are up to 50 teams of youngsters battling it out on the gridiron as part of the flag football league offered through a partnership between the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Wyoming and the Casper Recreation Center. New for this year are jerseys made possible through funding from Buffalo Wild Wings. The grant also provides training for coaches and equipment.
More than 450 kids in grades kindergarten through fourth are participating in flag football this season. Flag football gives youth a chance to work on skill fundamentals and mechanics without the potential of contact through tackles. Kids also learn the value of teamwork and practice, how to compete, social skills, and good sportsmanship.
Sports opportunities through the Boys & Girls Club are possible through the dedication and commitment of many volunteer coaches.
