The Club is closed for the week, but it’s still buzzing with activity as staff prepares the facility for the school year. On Wednesday, Aug. 27, the Club welcomed a team of workers from Halliburton. For the second year in a row, Halliburton employees have given up a day to help at the Main Club during summer shutdown week.
About 25 employees wielded a paintbrush or trash bags to freshen up the main gym and clean up the campus around the building for the company’s annual “Honey-Do” Day at the Club.
Kitty Mills of Halliburton helps organize this event. She said that “it’s easy for a corporation to write a check, but when you can get a group of employees to give of their time, that has a real and lasting impact for all.”
Ms. Mills understands what the Club means to the community and the kids who come here. “The Boys & Girls club is where kids can come to be themselves, to build relationships, and just to have fun. It’s a security net for our community.”
