Comedy basketball is coming to Glenrock to entertain families and children alike. Before the Ambassadors take the court against the Glenrock Purple Pride, the traveling team will perform an assembly to elementary students. The Harlem Ambassadors bring the message of “Stay in school, stay off drugs, don’t be a bully.” The assembly will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in the Glenrock Elementary School Gym.
The Ambassadors encourage kids to work hard in school, respect themselves and their peers, listen to adult authority, believe in themselves, set goals, not be a bully and focus on their education. During the 45 minute program, team members share individual inspirational messages drawing from their own experiences. They will talk about any obstacles they have overcome and choices they’ve made when faced with tough decisions.
“Kids may not always take what their parents say to heart, but they’ll listen to athletes who have a message,” said Lade Majic, coach of the Harlem Ambassadors. “It’s our way of reaching kids.”
The morning assembly is part of the Harlem Ambassadors stop in Central Wyoming. Later that evening, they will take the court against a team of local stars like Grant Elementary Principal Coley Shadrick, CCSD #2 Superintendent Kirk Hughes, GHS Girls Basketball Coach Josie Roberts, GPD Officer Julie Wickett, GHS Principal Chris Gray, plus more.
The family fun starts at 7 p.m. at the Glenrock Middle School gym on April 23, 2015.
Tickets are $5 for students and seniors, $7 for adults, and free for children four and under and can be purchased at the Glenrock Boys & Girls Club or by calling (307) 262-1892.
