As Glenrock children head back to school Monday through Thursday this year, they can depend on the Boys & Girls Club of Glenrock for engaging activities, fun, and a safe place to go on Fridays. They will also have full tummies thanks to a generous grant from Christ Episcopal Church in Glenrock. With support through the Foundation for the Episcopal Diocese of Wyoming, the church will provide lunches to all Glenrock kids at the Boys & Girls Club of Glenrock on Fridays during the school year.

The $30,000.00 grant will ensure that children will have a healthy and filling lunch on Fridays during the school year. Lunches will be served to Club youth and any Converse County child who needs a meal each Friday during the school year from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Glenrock Boys & Girls Club located inside the Glenrock Intermediate School. Christ Episcopal Church volunteers, along with community volunteers will prepare and serve the meal.
“We value organizations in communities across Wyoming that step up to solve problems caused by funding shortages, particularly when shortages negatively affect school kids,” said Press Stephens, executive director, The Foundation for the Episcopal Diocese of Wyoming. “We are proud to support the community of Glenrock by granting dollars that will make a new lunch program work for kids through the Boys & Girls Club.”
The Boys & Girls Club is committed to improving the health of youth so that they can learn and grow while building healthy habits for tomorrow. According to the National Afterschool Alliance, children who participate regularly in quality afterschool programs have better grades and attendance in school than their peers who do not.
