A college education is possible for two Central Wyoming youth impacted by Boys & Girls Clubs as the University of Wyoming awards the 2021 Great Futures Gold Standard Scholarships. This competitive scholarship covers full tuition and fees at the University of Wyoming for four years. Two of the three 2021 recipients are from Casper: Kaleb Dysart from Natrona County High School and Mark Annis from Kelly Walsh High School.
Kaleb Dysart, NCHS Senior, is a 2021. recipient of the Great Futures Gold Standard Scholarship
Dysart is a senior at Natrona County High School and has been a Boys & Girls Club member for 13 years. He counts photography club and Torch Club among his favorite programs. He is on the varsity wrestling team and is a honor roll student. Kaleb plans to study dentistry in college.
Mark Annis, KWHS Senior, is a 2021 recipient of the Great Futures Gold Standard Scholarship.
Annis is a senior at Kelly Walsh High School and spent his elementary years attending the Verda James Branch of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Wyoming. He plans to study Business Ag in college.
To qualify for this award, students must be Wyoming high school seniors and must have participated with a Wyoming Boys & Girls Club for at least two years. The scholarship is awarded based on academic merit and financial need. Applicants were asked to submit essays discussing their plans to reach their personal full potential as responsible, caring citizens and how the “Code of the West” inspires or guides them in their daily lives.
The Great Futures Gold Standard Scholarship is an annual award for up to three deserving Club youth statewide. More information can be found HERE.
The University of Wyoming has opened its doors to all Boys & Girls Clubs from across the state for campus visits, tours, and tickets to a home football game for a taste of campus life. The intention is to plant the seed of the possibility of college for youth and demonstrate the potential that lies beyond high school.
