WyoTowne Government and Civic Literacy

One of the Club’s priority outcomes is good character and citizenship. With programs like Young AmeriTowne: WyoTowne, we empower youth to make ethical decisions, build leadership skills, and learn how they can make an impact in their community. Youth develop their personal values and learn how to use these values as a guide to living authentically and ethically.

As part of WyoTowne, students campaign for elected positions for their Towne day and vote for their officials. Through this election process, they learn how to be well-informed citizens and how to participate in civic functions like voting. In fact, 70% of WyoTowne participants can give a reason why it’s important to be an informed voter.

“It’s important to be informed so people don’t make unfair rules you don’t agree with.”

“You need to know you can trust the people in charge.”

“You might say yes to something you don’t agree with.”

“When I voted for “recess” I thought we voted for wanting it, not replacing it with push-ups!”

“You don’t want to vote for someone bad!”
